Jeremy Allen White Transforms Into Bruce Springsteen in First ‘Deliver Me from Nowhere’ Trailer

Jeremy Allen White is showing off his voice for his latest film, “Deliver Me from Nowhere.” The actor transforms into iconic rocker Bruce Springsteen for the biopic, which is set in the early ’80s during the recordings of “Born in the USA” and “Nebraska.”

Jeremy Strong portrays Springsteen’s manager Jon Landau, with  “Adolescence” star Steven Graham as Springsteen’s father. Paul Walter Hauser, Marc Maron, Gaby Hoffmann, Odessa Young, and David Krumholtz co-star. “Deliver Us from Nowhere” was written and directed by Scott Cooper, who adapted the story from Warren Zanes’ Springsteen biography.

Springsteen said during Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast that he was approached to partake in the film that only spans a sliver of his life and career. “They pitched the idea, and I said, ‘It sounds like fun,’” Springsteen said. “It’s an interesting concept, because it’s only a couple of years out of my life. It’s ’81, ’82, and centered around the creation of that particular record while I was simultaneously recording ‘Born in the USA’ and also going through some personal difficulties that I’ve been living with my whole life. But it’s fantastic.”

He also told The Hollywood Reporter that he hopes the film is a “surprise” for fans. “I don’t want to talk about it too much, except saying that Jeremy Allen White did a fantastic job,” Springsteen said. “As did Jeremy Strong, and there’s a young woman, Odessa Young, in the picture, she’s incredible also.”

“Deliver Me from Nowhere” is the latest musical biopic starring an in-demand rising actor: “A Complete Unknown” landed a slew of Academy noms, including a Best Actor nod for Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan. The four-part Beatles biopic is also in the works, with Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, and Harris Dickinson as John Lennon.

In the meantime, “Deliver Me from Nowhere” star White could land his first Oscar nom for this feature. “The Bear” actor already has two Emmys under his belt.

20th Century Studios will release “Deliver Me from Nowhere” in theaters on Friday, October 24. Check out the trailer below.
